Eight ways to not waste your time and money

You can support the Art of Diversion (AOD) movement and help shape the future of the Art of Diversion Museum (AODM) through contributions of property or materials, by providing your professional or creative services, or by supporting us through sponsorship, membership, volunteering or donations.

1. Become a Property Patron

Don’t let building materials go to landfill.

AOD Property Patrons are the key to a less wasteful future. Instead of contributing to the problem, you can take an active lead in delivering the solution.

If you’re a homeowner, property developer, asset manager or commercial or industrial property owner and you have an upcoming construction, renovation, fitout or demolition project (or know about a property that is slated for demolition), let AOD mobilise our network to reclaim and reuse materials from your project. We can also advise you on ways to integrate the materials into your new project or future projects.

Get in touch today through our Contact form.

2. Showcase Your Space

Don’t let a vacant building go unutilised.

We’re on the hunt for vacancies where we can convene collaborators or host pop-up exhibitions to give the world a glimpse of what the future AOD Museum will offer. If you have spare warehouse space or a venue somewhere in the Sydney area that might suit our needs (and are able to offer super flexible terms), please get in touch.

Better still, if you have a building or a piece of land somewhere in the Sydney area that you think might be a great location for the future site of the Museum, then you could help us literally shape the future of AOD. Our site selection committee would be delighted to hear from you.

Get in touch today through our Contact form.

3. Sponsor an AOD Event

Help us bring the community together while increasing brand visibility for your business.

Benefits of AOD event sponsorship include naming and recognition in all event materials, signage and social media.

If you’re interested in sponsoring an AOD event, let us know through our Contact form.

You can visit our Events page for details on upcoming events. As needed, we will regularly post a Call for Sponsors on our Events page and on social media for certain events throughout the year, so if you’re not in a position to sponsor an event now, there will be other opportunities in the future.

 4. Join a New Kind of Guild

Make art, not waste.

Dear Creatives, the world needs you. Become a fellow Artist of Diversion and help put an end to unnecessary waste.

The AOD ‘guild’ is open to any and all architects, designers, engineers, craftsmen, fabricators, makers and artists who share our passion for reducing waste by repurposing building materials. Otherwise, no obligations whatsoever. Signing up simply allows you to be added to our growing directory of creatives, which gives you the opportunity to reach more potential clients and customers through promotion across our various channels. We feel strongly that what you do needs to be shared with as many people as possible, so we’d be more than happy to partner with you to develop tailored promotional content to help you reach an audience that is likely already searching for the kinds of products or services that you offer—the AOD audience.

If you’re interested, get in touch through our Contact form.

5. Join the (Dis)Assembly

Let’s demolish carefully deconstruct something together.

This ‘(Dis)Assembly’ is a collective of businesses that assist AOD on demolition projects or agree to set aside surplus or unwanted materials from their own projects for AOD’s materials bank. It is comprised of businesses specialising in construction, demolition, building materials salvage and reclamation. What sets these business apart is their unwavering commitment to minimising the amount of waste that ends up in landfill.

If you are interested in joining the ‘(Dis)Assembly’, please get in touch today through our Contact form.

6. Join the Conversation

Do you have an Art of Diversion story to tell?

Are you a writer, journalist, photographer or videographer? Do you have a unique perspective on waste and reuse in the building industry and the arts? Are you interested in covering topics related to Art of Diversion? Are you a researcher or academic in a related field of study? If so, we would love to work with you. We welcome submissions of stories, and we are always looking for contributors.

Please get in touch today through our Contact form.

7. Volunteer

We could always use an extra hand.

If you like making and building things, if you’re handy with some tools or if you like helping out with planning, design and logistics, there are countless ways for anyone to assist with AOD projects and events.

If you’d like to express your interest in volunteering with AOD, please don’t hesitate to get in touch today through our Contact form.

8. Make a Donation

Any amount is welcome. Every little bit helps.

AOD is a largely self-funded and crowdfunded organisation that depends on the generous support of donors, as does our flagship initiative, the Art of Diversion Museum (AODM).

The goal is for AOD to remain a community-driven project with a large and diverse group of stakeholders who have a vested interest in its success.

Please consider donating today. We would be very grateful.
